Treasury Securities Services (TSS) is a global leader in transaction, investment and information services that support the needs of chief financial officers, treasurers, issuers and investors worldwide. TSS operates through two divisions: Treasury Services (TS) and Worldwide Securities Services (WSS).
To support the growing demands of the Business the business aligned technology infrastructure team is looking to recruit an experienced, senior Oracle DBA with solid technical experience within the financial services sector to supplement the existing global team.
The successful candidate should be self-motivated and be able to work with minimal supervision in a complex, global environment. He/she should be able identify opportunities for improvement and actively take ownership for these to drive them through to completion.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include;
- Participation in architectural reviews/planning exercises prior to project initiation
- Working with global counterparts within both TS and the core technology teams to deliver the needs of the Business within a often demanding/dynamic environment
- Identifying risk/issues within assigned projects and working with broader project teams to ensure that these are successfully addressed
- Participation in drawing up new standards (where appropriate) to ensure that best practices are applied
- Installation of database software and related products
- Building and configuring Oracle databases in a large RAC environment
- Level 3 production support for both local and remote, global systems
- Pro-active maintenance and repair to maintain the overall health of the database environment
- Documentation of all standard, repeatable tasks
- Process improvement/change
- Participation in the planning and implementation of disaster recovery exercises
- Capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning
Note that the role involves a certain amount of out of hours/weekend working and level 3 break/fix support. The candidate should therefore be flexible in his/her attitude towards out-of-hours work. This is also seen as essential to communicate effectively with global teams.
Skills
- A minimum of 8+ years experience of managing Oracle databases within both development and large scale, production environments.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
- Willingness to take ownership and show initiative to achieve results.
- Good communication skills.
- A background in the finance and banking sector.
- Experience in both logical and physical database design
- Experience with OEM GRID Control for monitoring and troubleshooting
- Experience with database warehouses, clustering, replication and disaster recovery procedures (RMAN)
- Experience with Oracle Streams and Golden Gate
- Solid experience of Oracle recovery manager (RMAN) and Dataguard (both physical and logical standby) within an Oracle HA environment
- Experience with Oracle version 11g with ASM and ACFS.
- Solid UNIX shell script skills
- Any experience of SQL Server and Sybase beneficial but not essential
