Our Client, the Austin division of a nationwide, publicly held marketing and technology company is looking for a Database Programmer Analyst ready to make an immediate impact on this fast growing company. We are seeking an experienced programmer versed in PHP, Perl, and/or Java integrated with a MySQL background to join a dynamic and innovative development team. All candidates MUST have significant professional experience developing complex, database-driven applications. This is a challenging position and is not suitable for novice or entry-level programmers. As the application uses a database backend and runs on Unix, experience with SQL (MySQL experience is expected) and Unix (RH Linux/CentOS) is required.
The programmer will be responsible for the architecting, tuning, optimizing, and analyzing large; scale database implementations. Must be able to analyze and optimize database access from web applications that display complex data sets, provide custom reports, integrate with other existing systems, and utilize best practice techniques for high volume sites.
The programmer must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to find the ideal way to implement requirements in a clean, elegant way. Candidates should be able to provide examples of database strategies and implementations that they have developed and be prepared to discuss practical and theoretical consequences of design choices. While accomplishing these objectives, the Database Programmer Analyst will work in a small group atmosphere adhering to source control and established coding standards. Candidate will also be required to interface with all levels of management.
The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented, trustworthy self-starter with good communication skills and the following background.
* Bachelor's Degree or 4-7 years of database programming experience
* Professional experience developing/architecting databases for web applications
* SQL and a good knowledge of client-server architecture a must
* Knowledgeable in the use of Netbeans, Eclipse, SVN, and SSH
* XML and XSLT knowledge a plus
* Prefer a candidate with a multiple-programming-language background especially knowledge of PHP, Java, JSP, and Servlets
* Experience configuring, administrating and optimizing databases in a Unix environment
* Strong database analysis and optimization skills Other:
