DB2/ Oracle Database Administrator recruitment

Bloomberg's DBA team is looking to add a self-motivated, highly-experienced DB2 Database Administrators. The DBA team is responsible for tasks such as project management, the development of best practices and repeatable procedures for deploying databases, and day-to-day operational activities including break/fix, space management, backup and recovery (using Storage Manager), database replication setup and management and ongoing database change review. The team also builds and maintains large-scale and very highly transactional DB2 databases across multiple platforms.

Qualifications:

Good scripting ability, and good working knowledge of Shell Scripts and/or Perl
Strong background working with DB2 technology including;
- Managing large scale DB2 deployments in term of DB size and number of servers
- Managing high transactional DB2 databases servicing OLTP and DSS applications
- A solid understanding of DB2 internal architecture
- Performance tuning of DB2 database and SQL's
- Experience with enterprise backup and recovery strategies
- Hands on experience with designing and implementing database replication
strategies
- Project management and customer interaction
- Experience in database software management (patch and version management)
- Case management with DB2 technical support
- Experience in designing repetitive processes
- Coaching and mentoring experience is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Any Oracle knowledge and experience would be a bonus.
