Overview:

The UDB/Oracle Database Team is the part of the Database Administration group within Nomura International London and as such is responsible for the administration of all Nomura's UDB and Oracle database systems. The team is also the main centre of expertise for application developers that require advice on using these database products. The UDB/Oracle team provides 8am to 7pm onsite support Monday to Friday. Global support for UDB/Oracle is shared with the Global UDB/Oracle DBA team which requires the London team to support the global systems between the hours of 15:00 to 19:00 as part of the Follow The Sun Support (FTSS) rota.

Role / Principal Accountabilities:

As a dedicated member of the UDB/Oracle DBA team the candidate will be expected to use their technical knowledge to contribute to the advancement of the UDB/Oracle RDBMS environment within Nomura. Apart from supporting the production environment this role will mainly involve supporting application teams when they use the UDB and Oracle products and help them make best use of the technology.

Skills Experience Required:

• The candidate will have worked in a large global organisation that had a dedicated DBA team for UDB and Oracle or have similar experience.

• Must also have good understanding of the differences between front and back office

• Experience of 27x7 production support of a database real-estate that contains UDB and Oracle is desirable

Knowledge Required (Required Skills):

• In-depth administration experience building and supporting UDB version 9.5.

• Administration experience using either UDB SQL or MQ Replication technologies.

• Logical design and performance tuning of UDB or Oracle environments.

• Appreciation of OS problem determination techniques within Linux / Unix environments.

Knowledge Required (Desired Skills):

• Administration experience of Oracle 10g, 11g is desirable.

• Knowledge of Kerberos and LDAP authentication.

• Experience of UDB 9.7 desirable.

• Experience of Oracle GoldenGate replication.
