Oracle 10g/11g R2 / MS SQL 2005 - 2010 / SQL Tuning / Scripting / Understanding of Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server T-SQL / Comfortable working with Code (re-writing/reading etc.)
My client is a global and highly succesful buy side investment firm. They are currently ramping up their operations in London and offers significant opportunities in addition to significant bonus potential to any succesful candidate.
The successful candidate will join a global infrastructure team tasked with supporting our internal database environment. You will be involved with a healthy mix of project and maintenance tasks of production, development and UAT environments. There is an expectation that you will also have a good understanding of operating systems and the ability to spec hardware requirements for high end/low end database servers.
Required Skills:
*Oracle 10g/11g R2
*MS SQL 2005 - 2010
*Database installation MS SQL/Oracle
*Operating system exposure. Windows 2003 - 2008. Linux - Redhat, Oracle
*Hardware. HP Proliant range, SANs, blades
*Maintenance plans, database backups,
*Replication technology. Log shipping, db mirroring, Data Guard
*Clustering - MS, RAC
*SQL Tuning
*Scripting, refreshing databases
*Understanding of Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server T-SQL
*Working knowledge of software development lifecycle
*Comfortable working with Code (re-writing/reading etc.)
*Good understanding of middleware and database interactions and connectivity
Soft Skills:
*Team player with excellent consultative and communication skills, and the proven ability to work effectively with management and staff, vendors and consultants
*Strong problem solving and time management skills
*Ability to continually sort assignments, manage conflicting priorities and accept changing deadlines

*Understanding of financial and transaction-based systems

Experience/Education/Certification:
*5 - 10 years professional experience
*Bachelor's degree in computer science or other IT related discipline
*Oracle and or Microsoft certifications
*Experience in financial services beneficial
