Suzuki is seeking a Manager, Dealer Development Network in our Brea, California Headquarters. Manage the Motorcycle/ATV Dealer Development Department to meet and exceed corporate strategic plans and sales objectives for retail growth, increasing market share, develop and maintain the dealer network to present a strong Suzuki brand image to retail customers. Leading and managing the Regional Sales Managers, Assistant Regional Sales Mangers, District Sales Managers, and Technical Service Managers in their responsibility for dealer sales objectives, prospecting and recruiting new dealers, training, educating and motivating dealers to sell and service Suzuki Motorcycle, Scooter and ATV products. Initiating and sponsoring of the permanent Suzuki Imaging of Suzuki products including Genuine Suzuki Accessories in our Motorcycle, Scooter and ATV dealerships. Development, implementation, and enhancement of the following: the Dealer Contact Report, National, Regional and District sales mapping and a Sales Force Automation plan to include New Dealer Set-up's, Major and Minor changes of ownership specifically within the Motorcycle, Scooter and ATV Division. In addition, as requested serve as the Motorcycle Division representative on strategic ASMC internal committees and Industry committees.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Review and approve or reject new dealer setup and change in status packages, considering documentary accuracy and completeness, attainment of stated requirements and assuring compliance with state and local legal statutes (legal compliance.) Resolve problems with prospective dealers or ASMC Department(s), get involved with prospects to attain requirements or work out/negotiate other special needs. Prepare and issue extensive range of correspondence to field personnel, prospective dealers, existing dealers, and state agencies relating to these matters. Design, develop, manage, and administer requirements, programs, and policies for new dealer establishment, changes in status and dealership terminations.
2. Lead Regional Sales Managers, Assistant Regional Sales Managers, District Sales Managers, and Technical Service Managers in the development and maintenance of a nationwide Suzuki dealer network. Duties include supporting RSMs, DSMs, and TSMs in the communications between Suzuki and authorized Motorcycle, Scooter and ATV Dealers; Track performance and manage the dealer contracts; Provide necessary administrative support; Develop strategic plans for obtaining new accounts; Implement programs to improve the effectiveness of dealer operations; Effectively utilize information resources to upgrade the dealer network to obtain retail growth
3. Generation and analysis of reports to identify appropriate points in which to solicit new dealers, the identification and analysis of poorly performing existing dealers, directing the documentation and follow-up necessary to legally pursue termination of existing dealers, development and implementation of policies and procedures for dealer establishment and termination matters. (For example, develop systems to attain desired results while remaining in compliance with various state laws.) Assist with legal matters in terms of preparing defense, attending and testifying at trials, hearings, and depositions regarding dealer network matters. Nationwide travel to visit with and interview Suzuki and other motorcycle dealers. Assist in planning and execution of Suzuki dealer shows.
4. Maintain signage and display materials for good Suzuki Logo recognition at each Dealership. Update and implement the Suzuki "Red Book" for sales team members.
5. Prepare and conduct New Dealer Orientation training either in person or on-line or Computer Training Modules that will prepare dealers to excel as a Suzuki dealer
6. Analyze, understand, interpret and communicate the latest market trends, state and federal laws, and regulations applicable to the power sports and motorcycle industry and dealer distribution channels.
7. Interact with related departments to ensure that the dealer network is effectively representing Suzuki throughout the organization.
8. Interact and work closely with ASMC corporate legal department as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum five-ten years experience in motor vehicle (motorcycle preferred) industry and five years at supervisory or management level. Demonstrated experience and background in dealer relations corporate activity is a plus. High-level understanding of computer technologies and analysis helpful.
ACADEMIC/TRAINING:
A four-year college degree with business emphasis preferred, and an MBA is desirable. Legal training and experience a definite plus. Seminars or training in human relations and negotiating skills helpful. Course work in marketing, finance, statistics or accounting required.
SKILLS:
A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, self-starter, and goal oriented. Excellent analytical skills. Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. High level of proficiency on information systems with practical knowledge of the following systems:
§ Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis
§ VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and JAVA Programming
§ Database (Microsoft Access and Paradox)
§ Microsoft Office
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
General mobility to work with standard office equipment. Visual ability to read written and electronic correspondence. Hearing ability to conduct personal meetings and telephone communication. Frequent travel to outside sites and meetings.
