Decision Support Manager

Key Role Deliverables: Criteria/results by which success can be measured

Performance Monitoring

• Act as relationship manager to the Business management providing effective and appropriate forensic analysis and targeted interpretation of monthly results, ensuring unsatisfactory performance challenged, risks identified and resolved/escalated, and solutions suggested/validated.

• Provide support to the business to ensure that performance is communicated effectively and that the actions within their control to improve financial performance are understood and acted upon.

• Ensure linkage made effectively between activity and subsequent financial outcome such that

• the true root cause of performance is understood, and communicated effectively to the business,

• reporting becomes more prospective than retrospective.

• Ensure actions to improve performance are initiated and driven through appropriately

• Ensure the Retail business management are aware of key issues and opportunities in relation to achievement of cost challenges and control. 

• Understand and challenge the bad debt charge and its relationship to income, in conjunction with the business to ensure that risk/reward is optimised.

Forecasting and budgeting

• Develop, in conjunction with the business, an appropriate, effective and flexible approach to forecasting to aid quick and sound decision making

• Deliver, in conjunction with the business, robust and accurate forecasting and budgeting to required timescales

• Ensure key issues and opportunities are understood and communicated effectively both across the local management team and also upwards to the Business Exec.

• Where appropriate, in conjunction with the management team, drive remedial actions for both income and costs

• Ensure that network targets are effective and aligned to the requirements to achieve budget, and that key issues are understood across the business

Strategy, Pricing and Business Development

• In conjunction with the management team, be proactive in developing the strategy for the business area and assist with its translation into deliverable actions plans with tangible measures of success.

• Assist with identification of new income generating opportunities

• Provide support and challenge in the development of business cases for new business developments. Ensure appropriate investment appraisal, monitoring and tracking of all initiatives.

• Review and challenge product pricing and development proposals, through effective partnering with the business

• Ensure linkage through to bad debts transparent

Control

• Implement controls to track and minimise income leakage

• Ensure any potential risks to financial performance identified on a timely basis and resolved/escalated

Management

• Work with the business of the business.
