Principal Responsibilities
- Communicate with Consumers by telephone and written correspondence to attempt to bring resolution to payments past due less than established default status timeframes of student loans.
- Qualify Consumers to determine potential eligibility for deferment and forbearance loan programs.
- Provide thorough, efficient, and accurate account updates on computer files for each call made.
- Demonstrate effective skiptracing techniques by locating Consumers home phone number, address, and/or place of employment and process accounts for legal action.
- Counsel delinquent account Consumers to assist in finding funds to meet debt obligations.
- Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations that regulate the collection industry.
- Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with NCO policies and procedures.
- Follow up in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain knowledge of functional area and company policies and procedures.
- Provide feedback to management concerning possible problems or areas of improvement.
- Make recommendations to implement improved processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate or equivalent in relevant work experience desired.
- Previous collections experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Proficient personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team fostered environment.
- Ability to work in a multi-tasked environment.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work.
- Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule.
