Defined Contribution Product Strategy Associate
BlackRock is looking for a quantitatively-oriented associate/analyst to work closely with the strategy teams inside the larger DC team. The Product Associate/Analyst is responsible for supporting the suite of Defined Contribution products while ensuring our internal distribution and platform teams and external clients and prospects are serviced at the highest level. The Product Associate/Analyst works closely with the DC investment strategists to provide investment insight and analysis on our defined contribution products and the broader industry to relationship managers, the consultant group and the advisor and platform channels. Another important part of the role involves coordinating closely with the defined contribution research and portfolio management teams to evolve the existing defined contribution product set, including our life-cycle funds and real asset products, while also conducting customized one-off analysis for strategic clients and partners.
Responsibilities
- Field, respond to, and accommodate day-to-day internal and external client requests regarding our DC product offerings.
- Update, coordinate and structure presentation materials for our DC strategies.
- Investment and/or economic analysis using spreadsheets and/or statistical software
- Acquisition and processing of financial and economic data.
- Effective presentation of analysis that is useful for portfolio construction, manager selection, investment strategies, or active portfolio positioning.
- Employ a flexible framework using a dynamic approach to investment solutions that adapts to client needs.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by providing unbiased advice on portfolio issues and multi-asset solutions.
- Work on special projects as assigned.
- Expand knowledge about products and services.
- Attend some internal and external client meetings in house.
Skills Qualifications
- Has a BA/BS degree in related field (Economics, Finance or Accounting).
- Has 3+ years of directly related experience
- Excellent analytic, problem solving, and productivity skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills that enable complex ideas to be readily understood by others
- Experience with linear algebra, probability and statistics
- Experience with MATLAB, R, VBA, Java, C?C++ or databases would be a plus
- Has demonstrated analytical ability, maturity and judgment in dealing with institutional clientele
- Has a high level of self-motivation, with strong integrity ethics
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with a proactive, "can do" attitude
- Is organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills
- Has high proficiency in Microsoft Office and an aptitude for learning new applications
- Has, or is willing to obtain, the series 7, 63, and 3 licenses
- Continuing education in finance, investments, and pension fund issues
- Effective team player; able to work with people of all levels.
