Department Manager- Systems Engineering Job

The Department Manager - Systems Engineering will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Essential Responsibilities - Responsible for the engineering group that supports the IHM line of drives development, applications and manufacturing to achieve a drive line that is a leader in our industry - Manage a group of Engineers, Technicians and Drafting Professionals - Design, develop and manage new product design in line with specific customer requirements - Provide product support as required - Manage department budget - Produce various management reports to outline departmental activities - Interface with various operations and engineering groups across the company - Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems - Perform analysis at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal - Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints - Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications - Interface with all engineering disciplines to ensure continuity, quality, and schedule adherence - Develop, review and verify quality-engineering documents - Mentor other team members in areas of demonstrated expertise Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college - Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and application of VSD's, with 5 years of experience in a management role Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Knowledge of Variable Speed Drive (VSD) as applied to Environmental Resource Planning (ESP) motors - Working experience with ERP / Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems - Knowledge of electrical power systems - Prior mechanical / electrical systems design, operation and modeling experience - Prior experience with GE documentation system, practices and requirements (GE employees only) - Ability to sort through information and make timely and sound decisions - Six Sigma training (GE employees only) - Ability to consistently produce high quality work in a production environment - Able to prioritize work, and communicate openly in stressful situations - Strong oral and written communication skills - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills Why join one great company when you can join many?
