Job Description

SD3 is seeking two Deployment (Implementation) Engineers. This is a long-term project opportunity with an SD3 client located in Chicago was a potential career prospect.

 

Candidates must be able to manage resources and processes to ensure the timeliness and integrity of the release cycle. As a member of the Application Testing and Implementation team, this position is responsible for the build and release cycle from development to production.  The successful candidate will work with other IT departments to ensure adherence to our client’s change control process and have the technical expertise to ensure the integrity of software releases and scheduled batch processes. The candidate will have experience optimizing the use of development and test environments, and be able to configure environments to specification.

 

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are generally representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

•              Effectively manages code changes in the code library.

•              Configures vended software on test and production environments.

•              Creates and manages software builds for internally developed applications.

•              Creates and manages test and production batch scheduling environments.

•              Reviews implementation documents for accuracy and completeness ensuring appropriate back out plans are documented.

•              Work with application testers to ensure testing is performed in production like environments.

•              Assess release readiness based upon objective standards.

•              Work with IT Operations throughout the release cycle to ensure all changes are documented and approved.

•              Lead cross functional teams to implement technical changes during scheduled nighttime and weekend maintenance windows, and support emergency implantations.

•              Work with Application Support to ensure the batch schedule meets business needs and service level agreements.

 

Key Requirements

Education and/or experience

•              Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

•              Post graduate work, i.e. financial certification, or master’s degree a plus.

•              7+ years of solid experience in implementing software and/or scheduling.

•              Mastery of ITIL Release and Configuration Management processes.

•              Investment management industry experience preferred.

 

Communication/team skills

•              Excellent oral and written communication skills.

•              Strong conflict management skills.

•              Client service-oriented.

•              Work effectively with a distributed team.

 

Technical skills

•              Build tool experience: MS Build, Visual Build

•              Password Management suites: Cyber-Ark, eDMZ

•              Batch scheduling experience (IBM/Tivoli’s TWS, Autosys, ActiveBatch)

•              Scripting: Windows Batch scripting, UNIX Kornshell, Perl

•              RDBMS: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase

•              Languages: .Net (C# / VB.Net / ASP.Net), JSP, Java, ASP a benefit

•              Web servers: Tomcat, IIS, JRun a plus

•              Operating systems - Windows, UNIX (HP-UX a plus)

•              Strong understanding data structures and content required

•              Financial application experience a plus (Charles River, SimCorp, Portia)

•              Windows Permissions Management Experience

•              FTP/SFTP Experience

•              SharePoint Workflow Management is a plus
