Derivatives Operational Risk AVP – Operations recruitment
Derivative Operations is comprised of two ‘Utilities’; Documentation and Settlements. The role is to provide risk analysis and operational risk management across both Utilities. The role reports through Derivatives Operational Control and provides an objective and independent view of the derivative utilities as regards the operation of their controls and the management of operational risk. The role facilitates Derivatives Operations control face off to other control functions including Internal Audit and the Cross Operations Control Hub.
Core responsibilities include:
• Risk Analysis: Perform control reviews as directed by management. Identify areas of control weakness and recommend control improvements. Assist with the implementation of these improvements as applicable.
• Internal Control: Ensure Derivatives Operations are in compliance with control standards and completes the annual attestation to that effect.
• Audit Engagements: Facilitate and coordinate the response to internal, external and regulatory audits and reviews. Ensure appropriate action is taken to address issues raised.
• Error Reporting: The Control Team draft error reports and lessons learnt arising from control incidents based on information provided by the line.
• Control Advisory: These are usually line management driven requests and range from requests for ad hoc control guidance through to formal projects.
• Business Continuity Management: Ensuring Derivative Operations are in compliance with the banks policy and requirements as regards ensuring readiness in the event of a disaster, outage or any other significant event that affects business continuity;
• Business Information Security: Ensuring Derivative Operations are incompliance with group requirements as regards ensuring appropriate access to business applications and information.
Candidate requirements:
• ACA qualified.
• Significant exposure to either internal audit, product control or operational risk management.
• Relevant experience within a capital markets environment.
• Derivatives product knowledge is highly desirable, however other product knowledge will also be considered.
• Strong interpersonal and presentational skills.
This role provides face off to senior line management in addition to line and corporate control functions and provides the employee with the opportunity to deepen their process understanding of derivative operations.
