Garmin International Inc. is seeking a Design Certification Engineer who will contribute to avionics certification under the direction of a mentor or team leader. Position Title: Design Certification Engineer Department: Engineering Reports To: Design Engineering Team Leader Job Status: Exempt POSITION SUMMARY : Under the direction of a mentor or team leader, contribute to avionics certification. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Design basic avionics electronics circuits including schematic design and PCB layout for design of digital, analog, or RF circuits with assistance and mentoring from other team members · Assists with requirements development, trace matrix development and performing generic safety analysis · Under guidance and mentorship of experienced design engineer, produce and submit key FAA documents to ensure compliance with required avionic certification · With guidance from mentors or team leaders, design and develop basic FPGA circuits including development of VHDL code in accordance with the DO-254 process · Support software verification efforts including development of ATE software · Participate in MPS, TSO and product improvement testing and develop reports to document testing efforts · Complete basic certification and DO-254 documentation and partner with experienced DCE for signoff · Perform aircraft certification EMC testing and report generation · Assist with concept and PDP development in collaboration with design certification engineering team · Provide support to the team through patent research, managing and maintaining the team?s SharePoint page and participation in DCE recruitment efforts · Participate in product development reviews, accept and act on constructive criticism · Identifies and resolves defects of basic scope using proper engineering tools and techniques OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES · Perform other duties as necessary
