This is an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer - Engine Control Module Hardware position located in Columbus IN. Key Responsibilities: Cummins Integrated Electronics Current Product Engineering Support-Electronic Hardware Team: The CIE-CPES Hardware team is responsible for ECMs, (Electronic Control Modules), that are used across a variety of Cummins engine platforms and applications which include: Heavy Duty, MD Range, High Horsepower, Power Generation, and Natural Gas. The members of the team work closely with both internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure the electronic hardware meets its defined hardware requirements and quality/cost goals. ECM Hardware Engineer: The individual selected will be required to work closely with our internal customers as well as external suppliers of ECMs. Some of the specific duties include the following: - Work with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery quality of the hardware - Develop and manage schedules, elevating and resolving issues that may arise - Responsible for coordinating with application teams, customer, business units, etc.... - Work with Fuel Systems Specific Controls to ensure performance characteristics are compatible with control strategy - Develop, release, and modify performance, inspection, and source approval standards - Ensure hardware development complies with quality procedures - Lead/support/document hardware related problem solving and analysis using appropriate quality methods - Electronic circuit analysis/modeling - Prototype hardware concept development and fabrication. - Collect data and develop application rules/guidelines pertinent to the hardware/system - Develop test procedures to improve the correlation between environmental test and real life conditions - Implement Cummins core product and electronics work flow strategy - Ensure continuous improvement - Ensure metrics are used to measure progress against the targets Skills: - Background of electronic hardware and microprocessor based system design - User level in basic statistics - User level of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project - Good oral, written and interpersonal skills - Ability to write standards, test procedures and reports - Excellent analytical skills
