Role Summary/Purpose
In response to changing environment (regulatory, product cost, new products, customer requests), modify and improve GE’s portfolio of Lighting luminaires.
Essential Responsibilities
Product sustainability engineering support for GE’s HID LED luminaires. Includes product extension design/approvals and product redesigns to address industry/government standards.
Work closely with Quality Control to ensure Luminaire product line meets specifications and customer expectations.
Review and approve material and mechanical specifications.
Execute cost reduction programs.
Skilled in use of key software tools (Solidworks or similar 3D solid modeling software) to develop concepts and predict performance.
Work with team to develop key mechanical aspects of lighting systems including
Materials and component selection
Tolerancing and vendor selection
Assist in defining manufacturing process/controls to ensure final product meeting customer requirements for quality.
Work with cross polar and cross functional team members within GE Consumer Industrial, and at vendors and customers to coordinate product introduction.
Other responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
Real time support of GELS manufactured lighting product.
Work closely with Product Management to insure compliance of regulations and specifications.
Qualifications/Requirements
BS Mechanical Engineering or related field
Experience in a manufacturing or engineering design environment.
Strong troubleshooting skills.
CAD Design Experience (SolidWorks preferred)
Desired Characteristics
Experience as a Product Support and/or Manufacturing Engineer.
Demonstrated project management experience
Design/Test to UL1598 Standard
Green belt certified
FEA Experience in Stress Analysis and Thermal Analysis
