SUMMARY:

Works with Surgeon and Surgeon teams, marketing and production staff to design a product from the initial idea until it can be launched to the Market.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works directly with Surgeon or Surgeon team to develop a product.
• Works with Marketing Staff, production staff, engineering and R D Director to design product from conception to finished product.
• Performs calculations, stress analysis.
• Creates 3D models in CATIA V5.
• Transfers Models to 2D drawing.
• Dimension, tolerance and complete drawing to standards
• Performs target cost and risk (FMEA) analyses.
• Organizes and lead meetings to plan and track project progress.
• Works to quality system regulation design control documents.
• Prepares patent and literature searches.
• Must comply with applicable ISO and FDA regulations as stated in Quality Manual
• Must embody the Company’s Vision, Mission and Values
• Other duties may be assigned.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must be able to travel by air and car, and work occasional weekends.
• Requires excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
• This position requires the handling of instruments that may have been contaminated by blood or other bodily fluids. In compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Aesculap will provide a safe working environment for all employees.
• Uses professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to help solve complex problems in creative and effective ways, complete projects as assigned and achieve goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
• Master’s degree in Engineering or Bio-engineering preferred.
• General CAD experience. CATIA V5 preferred.
• 2 years industrial experience preferred, or equivalent time combined industrial experience and Masters degree

LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS; REASONING ABILITY:

Language Skill: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect date, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
