Qualifications:
This position interfaces across all functional groups within Fabricated Systems and the Merrimack facility to ensure Engineering excellence for the projects/products to which they are assigned. Responsible for the accurate, timely and cost effective design / development of Fabricated Systems Products and Systems from inception to final fielding. Products include A/S Radome Systems, Electromagnetic Windows, Planar Antenna Covers,and other communication activities.
Education, Skills and Requirements:
•Four Year Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline.
•0-5 years experience in engineering design.
•Basic competence in AutoCAD or similar drafting/design software; knowledge of Solidworks or Inventor preferred.
•Aptitude for hands-on prototyping and manufacturing.
•Ability to design, manage, and implement projects of a technical nature.
•Flexible composite materials and FEM experience is a plus, especially if associated with air-supported radomes.
•Able to operate independently and as part of a team.
•Team facilitation and project management experience a plus.
•Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and technical writing. Foreign language is a plus.
•Computer skills necessary to fulfill requirements of position.
•Self motivated worker, able to act independently and set and manage priorities.
•Must be able to drive projects from start to finish.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
•Travel up to 10 % to 20% of year
Responsibilities:
•Leads and supports technical activities for communication systems projects/contracts and ensures the performance, profitability, delivery, and quality of these products to exceed company standards. SGPPL technical point of contact on new project development activities (including program status, performance, profitability, and delivery). Drive new project development efforts concentrating on increasing overall GPM of efforts. Prepares engineering work releases and specifications for equipment, components or construction bid packages for the specialty.
•Provides input to PM's as to performance milestones and monitor adherence to project master schedule plans and schedules to ensure timely and cost efficient project development. Responsible for providing engineering data and specifications to support the estimate preparation necessary to meet the financial objective(s).
•Directs the technical performance of Project functional team elements such as procurement, manufacturing, quality control, engineering, materials, and administration. Interface closely with other functional departments in the development of new products and fabricating techniques to support improvements in our product line(s) while emphasizing reduced costs and increased profits. Use problem solving skills, supported by theoretical and practical detailed design calculations, necessary to fully explore alternative solutions. Actively select and qualify materials, equipment, etc., jointly with Purchasing, Fabrication.
