The Design Engineer provides engineering expertise in assigned areas to ensure that all products are designed, procured, and built in accordance with customer and company quality requirements for sales growth and profitability.

Specifically, the Design Engineer:

  • Approves drawing specifications and assemblies of new and existing products.
  • Designs new products and redesigns existing products to meet customer needs and specifications.
  • Provides technical support to internal departments and select customers.
  • Responds to Requests for Quotation (RFQ's) and Hold for Dispositions (HFD's).
  • Issues Engineering Change Release Notifications (ECRN's).
  • Investigates and suggests solutions to Director of Engineering with regard to product related problems.

    Additional Responsibilities
    May assist with other job functions of the engineering department in the absence of the regular employee which may include technical support for incoming phone calls and/or technical training of new staff members.

    Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, with an emphasis in Mechanical Design preferred
  • Strong computer skills including PC
  • Three years experience in product design of small parts preferred
  • US citizen or permanent resident is required (ITAR compliance)

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow and provide detailed written or verbal instructions and communicate effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills, balances team and individual responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of Auto CAD, and Solidworks, mechanical design and general assembly processes
  • Ability to make sound decisions and accurate judgments
