Design Engineer

 

Position Summary:

Reports to the Engineering Manager, North America.  Responsible for the following:

Provides design support as an engineering team member to meeting project and engineering request objectives.

 

Essential Functions:

1.     Deliver project success criteria within scope and within or under budget and schedule.

2.     Provides design support (equipment layout, PIDs, machine, piping, general).

3.     Specifies/evaluates materials/equipment.

4.     Project records.

5.     Decision Making Authority: Resolves complex engineering/ design issues, works independently on specifically scoped projects.

6.     Major Challenges: Multiple concurrent projects, communicating with internal external teams, support of a wide geographic area, periods of travel.

 

Other duties may be assigned within the capabilities of the successful candidate, as determined by management.

 

Requirements:

·         Education: BS Engineering or equivalent experience (5+ years).

·         Experience: 5+ years.

·         Technical:

·         Proficient in AutoCAD and Solidworks.

·         Competency in ISA standards.

·         Competency in industrial process drawings.

·         Must satisfy the requirements for “possessor of explosives” as defined by the BATF.

 

Role Competencies:

·         Multidisciplinary engineering and design.

·         Engineering drawings – development and interpretation.

·         Development of equipment specifications, selection, and sourcing.

·         Creation and organization of project documents, plant manuals, operating manuals, etc.

·         Excellent written/verbal communication skills.

·         Knowledge and application of best engineering practices, standards, and codes.

·         Interpersonal skills.

·         Management of multiple demands.

·         Innovative design skills.

 

Work Environment Physical Conditions:

Performing job duties around high explosives and otherwise hazardous materials; ability to wear and care for applicable personal protective equipment (such as, safety glasses and shoes, respirator, hard hat and ear protection, and safety harness) as required by site-specific requirements.
