Design Engineer (Software) Job in Lymington SO418BH, Southern UK
Working within the Research and Development team, designing, developing and supporting embedded electronics software solutions for a variety of standard and bespoke products using both high level and assembler based programming languages. Designing, developing and supporting Graphical User Interfaces for the above products. Generating documentation for and controlling software both internally and for external release.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Generation of quotations against customer specifications for software on both PC and embedded platforms.
- System level design of software for PC or embedded software.
- Design and development of software in ANSI C or assembler language for various target processors.
- Design and development of Graphical User Interfaces on PC platforms.
- Production of user manuals or instructions for software controlled systems.
- Revision control and release of software to ISO9000: 2000 standards.
- Preparing software documentation package.
- System level test and debugging.
- Liaison with other members of the Research and Development Team.
- Transfer of the design effectively to other members of the team and manufacturing company.
- Project management.
- Support of and enhancements to existing software.
- Customer and sales support.
Position Requirements:
Experience:
- Demonstrable experience real-time embedded software design in ANSI C and assembly language.
- Demonstrable design experience of Windows programming.
- System level design using OOD or UML.
- Production of documentation including specifications, release of software and user manuals.
- Proficiency in mathematics and or physics.
Additional advantageous experience:
- Knowledge of sensors and sensing technology.
- Knowledge of Microchip PICMicro, and Hitachi, or ARM range of processors.
- Communications such as CAN, RS485, RS232, etc.
- Basic electronics and ability to read circuit diagrams.
- Use of laboratory equipment (Oscilloscopes, DVMs, signal generators etc).
