Job Summary and Mission
Starbucks is building a global reputation for its approach to sustainable design and for creating award winning store environments that inspire communities through thoughtful and locally relevant design solutions. Our unique regional approach to design is transforming the look and feel of our stores, and our need to elevate design to the highest level has never been greater. As a result, we are on the hunt for design talent who have a passion for great design to join our regional design studios around the globe. This job contributes to Starbucks success by producing outstanding store designs for a regional market that upholds the Starbucks Customer Experience meeting cost, schedule and operational requirements by working with a cross functional team. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Current knowledge of industry trends in retail store and restaurant design;
- Current working knowledge of building and health codes and compliance issues;
- Demonstrated 3D visualization ability and working knowledge of color and design principles;
- Ability to balance design, with operational needs and budget objectives resulting in exceptional store environments;
- Ability to execute multiple designs under tight deadlines;
- Skilled in the visual, written and verbal communication of design issues;
- Ability to translate stated design principles / objectives into unique and varied store locations;
- Knowledge of architectural details and specifications for construction document production;
- Fluent in English and in Portuguese.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
· Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together;
· Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results;
· Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities;
· Partner Development Team Building - Providing outsourced consultants with coaching, and feedback.
Summary of Experience
- Retail, hospitality or restaurant design or development organization including management of construction documents;
- Management in a national company;
- Managing outside architectural, MEP and other design consultants.
