Designer II
PURPOSE: To oversee the development and implementation of all assigned projects including Independent Retailers and Corporate Projects along with Corporate Standards and Guidelines of Design for the visual environment; to include Exterior Elevations and Signage Standards, Décor, and interior signage and communication guidelines for all retail facilities for the company. Insure the compliance with the execution of the Guidelines of Design into all of the retail facilities in the company. Insuring the compliance with the execution of the company’s Guidelines Standards into all project types by both internal associates and outside service providers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design II:Oversees the retail store design program to ensure that designs meet the company Brand Strategy. Develops the design standards and guidelines for the visual environment (décor, signage, lighting, merchandising display, and exteriors) for all retail formats.
Develop strategy for thecreation of visual communications package, graphic design and templatesfor various retail concepts.Coordinates the Design Program with Marketing, Merchandising, and Operations and ensures designs meet brand standards.Supports the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods, and practices to promote the company’s key messages and achieve a competitive advantage.Maintains and updates Master Criteria Drawings and Specifications for all building formats. Reviews new products, materials, and systems. Conducts Consumer Research, test installations and tracks performance and makes recommendations for further action.Prepares, communicates, and educates client groups and teams on changes in design programs within the organization.Reviews and maintains knowledge of retail design trends.Consults with cross-functional teams on cost-saving opportunities and implements appropriate changes.Organizes and maintains Department Library for product information and code literature. Meets with Material Manufacturer’s Representatives and updates product literature library. Develops and maintains prototype décor concepts and décor programs for all formats.Reviews new décor elements for demographic variation to the standard décor program.Communicates new décor criteria to Project Development Associates and Outside Décor Resources.Coordinates décor development with exterior companies for co-branding.Manages exterior image and signage standards and requirements with Management, Marketing/Merchandising, and Operations. Develops and implements Signage Program to be followed by all outside service providers and Development Associates.Organizes presentations for Executive Management Review.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:Architecture or Interior Design degree required and/or other acceptable field related qualifications. Previous work experience required. Professional licensure in the related field preferred.Strong leadership and communications skills to build an effective team and lead change
Basic understanding of Graphic Design with formal education/training in art, graphic desing, illustration, retail store design or related field preferred.Current knowledge of industry trends in retail or restaurant design, Lighting Design, Visual Merchandising, or Theatrical Design experience (preferred)Analytical skills and ability to recommend solutions based on solid understanding of business competitive landscape and market trends.Possess strong negotiation, conflict resolution and communications skills both written and verbalProjects management, leadership and organization skills Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activitiesAble to work within the Oracle applicationsKnowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques with the ability to create online reportsUnderstanding of compliance and managing riskProficient with MS Office products and web based applications
Additional Job Requirements:3-5 years of related experience required.Basic understanding of architecture and construction industry practicesPossess excellent management and leadership skills and the ability to motivate and work with and through others to achieve desired results.
