Surface, Textile, Graphic Designer:
Job Specifications
• Identify emerging trends and key items for the next season
• Specialize in the creation of two-dimensional designs which are capable of being produced in a design repeat
• Make up sets of sample designs
• Maintain fabric design trend awareness through live presentations, print and non-print fashion publications
• Produce sketches for presentation to customers
• Travel to trade fairs, fashion shows, fiber, and fabric vendors
• Market research with Textile and Industrial Product Designers to bring innovative pattern and graphic ideas to the Bed Bath Beyond brands
• Travel for research, as well as work with retailers and wholesalers on the brand direction
• Partner with other department Designers to provide the fashion direction for merchants and manufacturers
• Develop color, print, woven trends in the market
• Partner with the Design Director and Department Designers to create a clear concept and merchandising plan for each season detailing color, trend and styling.
Requirements:
Job Requirements
• Must have 3 to 5 years of related previous experience home furnishings design and development experience with a retailer, textile company, manufacturer or design house.
• Applicant must have strong technical knowledge of production techniques and experience
• Superb design management and time management skills. Effective management of multiple, concurrent projects against aggressive timelines without compromising accuracy or quality
• Flexibility to travel on Europe trend trips, and sourcing/PD trips in Asia.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and strict deadlines.
• Proven verbal and written communication skills
• Relevant Bachelor's degrees Fine Arts with an emphasis on graphic and surface design, illustration or related subject. Working knowledge of art history, color theory, computer design software, type and graphic design principles. Degrees or certificates with a surface, graphic and typography design specialization.
