Desk Based C++ Developer – High Frequency Systems, Mayfair Hedge Fund recruitment
An opportunity has arisen for a strong C++ (UNIX, Linux) developer to join a business facing team in one of London’s leading Hedge Fund’s to help develop the in-house trading applications.
The successful candidate will be directly Desk aligned and responsible for producing the fastest and best trading tools by designing and delivering code with automated testing and performance always in front of mind as well as producing meaningful unit-testing procedures. You will be expected to meet and exceed end users expectations in terms of functionality, quality and performance. Naturally, excellent communications skills will be prized in this environment.
A lot of your work will involve a high degree of code optimization and tuning for speed. You will be intimately involved in the development and design of new a framework to facilitate automated pricing and trading strategies so this represents an excellent opportunity to further you business knowledge and increase your bonus capacity. They pay bonuses twice a year at this fund so your total compensation will outstrip what most Investment Banking groups can offer.
You will be actively seeking and clarifying product requirements with end users and other knowledgeable staff as well as finding new techniques on how to improve the trading algorithms and systems.
The role also involves working with the Traders and Quants to provide rapid business enhancements. This aspect requires the person to deal with demanding stakeholders who expect rapid delivery of solutions with constantly changing priorities. As such, the role requires someone who is flexible, can take ownership of issues, is self-motivated and comfortable working across numerous technologies and locations.
You should come from a highly numerate background and are probably working in a heavily technical role and using and manipulating large data sets. You will be a technologist at heart but it goes without saying that you will be able to display a keen interest in the financial markets and latest technologies.
Essential:
- Exceptional C++ (ideally Unix or Linux), STL, Boost
- Strong OO design skills
- Good understanding of software development methodologies – especially Scrum/Agile methods
• Real-time systems, multithreading, commercial code optimisation
Beneficial:
- C# Experience (ideally WPF or Winforms)
- Understanding and experience in performance-critical GUI development
- Experienced in network software development, e.g. socket programming
