Desktop Financial Application Developer recruitment
The Role
Bloomberg is looking for a qualified application developer with a solid understanding of the financial markets to join our growing Desktop Build Group in New York. The Desktop Build Group is a resource that works closely with Bloomberg Sales and Product departments. The aim of the team is to increase our clients dependency on our product by creating desktop solutions, mainly spreadsheet applications, which use our Excel Add-In. Projects include assisting customers in the migration of their worksheets from a competitor linked product to Bloomberg data, and building sophisticated models that fill a product gap.
Responsibilities include:
-Developing customized solutions for clients and prospects in the Americas
-Building broad reaching Excel-based solutions to be published in a global Template Library
-Assisting Sales Force in promoting Excel Add-In and newly created templates
-Liaising with Product Development teams to drive product enhancements
-Directly impacting sales through developed applications and direct customer interaction
Qualifactions:
- Exceptional knowledge of Excel
- Knowledge of Excel VBA and/or C#/VB.NET is a plus
- Must have previously worked in a financial markets environment and have a good understanding of different asset classes
- Must be proactive, energized, orientated, and prepared to take ownership in a fast turnaround/development environment
- Knowledge of competitor products is not required, though would be beneficial
- Prior experience with use of the Bloomberg Terminal is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ideal candidate will be: an expert Excel user with a solid developing and financial background (proficient in VBA and/or C#/VB.NET); highly creative; proactive; self-motivated; project oriented; capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and within strict deadlines; works independently as well as part of a team; possesses strong knowledge of financial markets.
