A Desktop Publisher is part of the Macquarie Capital Business Development team in London. Desktop Publishers have creative flair and excellent design and layout skills, experience in developing pitch documents and presentations in print and electronic format.
Skills and experience required
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, intermediate Excel
- Working knowledge of Adobe CS5 (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Excellent eye for layout and design essential
- Excellent understanding of design principles and colour
- Experience designing, developing and using templates
- Print production experience
- Relevant experience working in a corporate in-house design/presentation/document preparation environment (investment banking or professional services experience highly regarded)
- Excellent organisational skills
- Adept at problem solving and a quick learner
- Preference for working in a fast paced environment
- Flexibility with working hours

Key responsibilities
Bid submissions
- Work with the team leader and clients to ascertain scope of work/objectives and agree deliverables and timeframes
- Source imagery, develop and research concepts, design or work with existing layout templates, develop concepts
- Layout copy, tables and graphs of final bid submission documents
- Have custody of key documents through the editing/review/proofing stages
- Oversee final production of bid submission documents where required, including liaising with printers and other suppliers
- Create final PDF submission by consolidating various documents/components (covers, dividers and attachments etc)
PowerPoint presentations
- Work with the team leader and clients to ascertain scope of work/objectives and agree themes and objectives
- Source imagery, prepare artwork (covers, banners, dividers) and submit to client for approval
- Work on improving layout of presentations and placemats as per guidelines, suggest improvements and design alternate layouts/charts/diagrams
- Create and manipulate graphics where necessary using MS office or Adobe CS applications
- Assist staff with general presentation requests
- Embed video/audio/Flash components as required
Other duties
- Assist the Macquarie Capital Business Development team with updating company relevant materials
- Resize and retouch staff photos using Photoshop as required
- Image searching using photo libraries as required
- Concept development and template development
- Other layout/design requests as required which may include development and production of flyers, brochures, advertisements and fact sheets
- Liaise with printers and other suppliers for final production of printed materials
- Update job tracking systems and maintain a high standard of procedural work practices
