Position Description:
As part of Morgan Stanley's Detail Subledger Renovation Program,
sponsored by Operations, Finance and Technology, Finance is
augmenting its project team with individuals who have specific
subject-matter expertise within certain product areas that are
being migrated onto the renovated platform in the near term. In
order to support the definition, implementation and validation of
requirements to support the conversion and migration of OTC
Derivatives products, Finance is looking for an individual who is
familiar with Product Control functions. Experience with Fixed
Income and Equity OTC Derivatives is preferred. Responsibilities
will include analysis of balance sheet to support a migration
strategy and conversion approach from a legacy subledger to a
renovated detailed subledger platform. The individual should feel
comfortable working with various technology groups and should
possess the ability to understand technical aspects of the
project. After the initial products are incorporated into the
new subledger, the expectation is that this business analyst will
support the onboarding of other products into this strategic
platform.
Skills Required:
-Expertise in daily PL and Balance Sheet reporting and
analysis
-Expertise in providing daily commentaries on significant PL
movements, including analyzing PL explain/attribution
-Very strong accounting skills
-Knowledge of month-end close of the books and records, including
reconciliation between books and records and management reported
PL
-Substantiation of balance sheet from subledger to the general
ledger
-Strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, teamwork
attitude
-Effective organizational skills with ability to prioritize and
work to firm deadlines
Skills Desired:
-Experience with standard project management life cycle
activities
-Understanding of valuation and market risk
-Experience in other control areas within Finance (legal
entity/reg/treasury controlling)
-Experience working on large-scale projects and/or system
conversions
-Familiarity with settlements and cash control procedures
-Knowledge of bank funding and financial resource management
