Developer Evangelist Job in New York, New York US
A Major Electronic Commerce company located in New York City (NYC) is seeking a Developer Evangelist. This position will report directly to the Developer of Evangelism and work closely with the development team, product designers, product marketing team, sales team, etc. The company is building a new team from the ground floor, so this position will grow with the department and company. The role is 80% hands-on and similar to a research and development position, where the Developer Evangelist has potential to find new technologies, learn them, code with them, and teach company developers on how to use them.
The hiring manager is ideally looking for a 'jack of all trades, master of none' - a candidate that has equal parts of being social, outgoing, client facing and HIGHLY technical; ideally someone who can figure things out quickly, code quickly, and then teach others (developers) how to code.
Specific Qualifications (required unless noted otherwise):
- Experience with web services such as Restful, REST, REST API and familiar with a variety of different types of software including, but not limited to Java, C#, .NET, IOS/Apple Iphone, and Android
- Familiarity with mobile applications (such as Ipad is a plus)
- Excellent and engaging communication skills, both written and verbal (perfect English skills with the ability to speak and write English eloquently)
- Writing technical documents
- Writing blogs and posts, etc.
- Presentation skills are a plus
- Experience writing technical documents
- Ability to mentor people
- SaaS is a plus but not requirement
- Any industry experience is okay
