Development Assistant Job in Boston, Massachusetts Us

  • Under the general supervision of the Associate Director, the Development Assistant supports the general operational and fundraising activities of the Tufts Medical Center Trust, the development enterprise for Tufts Medical Center and the Floating Hospital for Children. Duties are diverse and largely administrative support functions, and will be tailored, depending on departmental needs and complementary skill set, toward either development operations or the philanthropy/fundraising team.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Supports the general administrative and project-based activity of the fundraising enterprise. Specific tasks could include:

    a) Meeting scheduling and logistical management

    b) Photocopying, answering phones, making travel arrangements, expense reports

    c) File management

    d) Processes incoming mail including sorting, copying and distributing.

    e) Performing gift entry into Raiser's Edge

    f) Performing event data entry, data cleanup and maintenance of Sphere Connector

    g) Assisting with administrative and clerical work assigned by gift officers, operations staff and management

    h) Collating and disseminating materials, internally and externally

    i) Producing correspondence and donor reports

    2. Provides support to the Moves Management system

    Responsible for the development agendas, as assigned, and the production of research profiles and other strategy documents necessary to support prospect discussion

    3. Assists with departmental project-based initiatives, as assigned. Projects may include: fundraising events, cultivational events, staff events and retreats, and budget/planning projects.

    4. Expedites the production of special reports, brochures, annual reports, manuals, etc. Coordinates efforts with Marketing/Communications, the executive offices, etc., as well as outside vendors to assure production schedules are met.

    5. Produces timely and accurate acknowledgement of all gifts-printing of letters, envelopes and reminders from the Raiser's Edge database

    6. Assists in entering participant and other relevant data into Raiser's Edge Events Module.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    1. Demonstrable commitment to the highest standard of ethical and professional conduct in accordance with the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethical Principles and Standards, The Donor Bill of Rights, and HIPAA. (Membership in AFP is not required.)

    2. Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Familiarity with Raiser's Edge a plus.

    3. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to work in a team environment; must be able to interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner.

    4. Meticulous attention to detail.

    5. Professional demeanor while handling sensitive and confidential matters.

    6. Strong writing and quality control skills.

    EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in any related field, such as Liberal Arts.

    EXPERIENCE: One year of relevant work experience preferably using donor software such as Raiser's Edge. Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are required.

    An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements TN
