DevOps Engineer at Shotgun Software (Vancouver, BC, Canada) (allows remote)
Job Description
Shotgun is a web application, with a server-side stack developed in Ruby and Python, using PostgreSQL as its primary data store. We deploy on CentOS, but we do most of our development on Macs. We host the majority of our clients in our own cloud-based infrastructure with a SaaS model. Our remaining clients have installed Shotgun in their studio infrastructure with a traditional software licensing model.
Our DevOps team is responsible for the following in both cloud and local deployments:

tools and processes for installing and upgrading Shotgun and its dependencies

availability and disaster recovery

security of the application, infrastructure and company policies

staying on top of new tools and evolving best practices outside of the company
The Shotgun team is distributed around the globe, with offices in LA, San Francisco and London. Office attendance is optional and many of us work from home. We're open to candidates from all locations, but we'll need some flexibility in working hours to allow for team coordination and planning.
Skills Requirements
The ideal candidate for this position would have solid development and systems fundamentals, but we're open to candidates with deeper professional experience in either discipline. It's most important that you're a strong communicator with a desire to dig in and learn how Shotgun fits together, and to help us make pragmatic choices about how we can improve.

We're a boutique software company distributed all over the world focused on building software for the Visual Effects, Feature Animation, and Video Game industries.
Our first product is called Shotgun, which is a web based production tracking and collaboration system for digital studios. Product two is called Screening Room, which is a review and approval system built on the Shotgun platform. Product three is called Tank, a new take on asset management built on the same platform. All three products combine to provide a solid base for a studio pipeline.
