Clinical Hemodialysis Technician

Summary:

The Dialysis Technician performs patient care and related duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse or Unit Administrator

Qualifications:

·         High school graduate or equivalent

·         Certified by the state as either a CCHT or a CHT (preferred)

·         Prior patient care or medical related experience (preferred)

·         Complete training requirements as designated by the Texas Health Department

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Perform at all times under the supervision of an R.N. or M.D. and within the limitations established by law, regulations, or usual practice within the state.

·         Prepare the dialyzer and delivery system for use as prescribed; monitor all equipment in use for correct functioning; and perform appropriate terminal cleaning following each treatment.

·         Evaluate assigned patients before and after each treatment, Initiate monitor, and terminate dialysis treatment.  Consult with the R.N. on all aspects of patient care and execute the plan of nursing care of each as directed.  Notify the R.N. regarding changes in the patient’s condition.  Document all patient care provided and contribute to a team patient care planning and follow up to achieve goals.

·         Administer medications competently as delegated by the medical director

·         Conform to the established policies and procedures of the facility

·         Perform patient care or other duties as assigned by the Charge Burse or Unit Administrator
