Kingwood Medical Center - Kingwood (03198) 22999 US Hwy 59 North Kingwood, 77339 Responsible for communications between the nursing units and Food and Nutrition Services. Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the neonate, infant child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population. Develops menu tallies for all patient items. Must react accurately with changes to ensure efficient timing of services, accuracy of Doctor's orders for modified diets, tube feedings, etc. Familiar with restrictions to diets to ensure optimal patient care. Adheres to Food Nutrition Services policies and procedures. Maintains communication between food and nutrition services and other points of customer and patient services through establish policies and procedures. Knowledgeable of the following standards:

Sanitation and safety (HACCP).
Food quality and quality control by use of establish procedures and guidelines.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education and Training:

Requires a high school degree or equivalent.
Formal training or previous on-the-job training in basic and modified diet principals and requirements.

Minimum Work Experience:

One to two years of food service experience regarding patient menus, diet changes, and general patient service in a hospital, extended care facility, or other like type quality food service operation

Skills:

Knowledge of basic principles of nutrition as related to modified diets and basic nutrition principals.
Strong reading and writing abilities required. ability to answer telephone and interact with patients and staff congenially.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language.

License/Registration/Certification:

Preferred Certification, but not required.
City of Houston Department of Health and Human Services Certification in Basic Food Safety and Sanitation "Certified Food Service Handler".
