Dir Applications Dvlpmnt – Financial/Accounting Applications

Major Responsibilities

Engaging in the strategic planning process with business and technology leaders

Ensuring effective alignment of technology to support business strategies

Driving innovation and creative solutions to business and technical challenges on an ongoing basis

Planning, managing and executing large-scale, critical technology initiatives including new development, system enhancements and re-engineering projects

Providing leadership and direction to an application development team

Maintaining unique segment specific applications following UDP documentation standards

Designing and developing solutions and capabilities to meet business needs

Testing segment specific capabilities to ensure quality deliverables

Release Management planning and execution for segment specific applications

Participating in the creation of technology roadmaps

Building collaborative relationships with business partners and IT leadership

Translating highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences

Strategic organizational planning, project prioritization and resource capacity planning

Delivering solutions to meet the business agenda (on Scope, Schedule, Cost, Benefit and Quality)

Providing hands on leadership for large strategic initiatives.

Highly motivated and pro-active indivual required. Hartford, CT location preferred, but open to other core sites in Horsham, PA and Cypress, CA as well.

- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.

Demonstrated success building robust, flexible technology solutions to meet business objectives

10 + years of experience leading the execution of large scale, complex custom application development initiatives required

10 + years experience leading and managing a team of software development professionals required

5+ years of Program Project Management experience is required

Ability to work with all levels of customers from both business and IT communities

5+ years of experience working in IT from an Applications Delivery perspective is required.

Excellent communication skills, including interaction with executives

Direct experience as an IT Manager/Director working with multi million dollar budgets is required.

Financial acumen desired including accounting, reserving and treasury functions is a plus

Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspective

Fact-based decision making approach, emotional intelligence and integrity

Well honed communication skills, evidenced by successful executive level interactions and presentation experiences

Ability to collaborate with executive management and build strong relationships across a variety of stakeholders

Effective influencing skills within both the business and technology communities

Proven experience managing organizational growth and change

Results-oriented individual with strong influencing, problem solving and negotiation skills

Effective influencing skills within both the business and technology communities

Diverse technology background including: mainframe, client server, and Web based systems/applications

Experience with UHG systems desired

Relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent experiences
