Director, ABS Surveillance recruitment

Standard Poor's Structured Finance ratings express forward-looking opinions about the credit worthiness of issuers and obligations. Our credit rating analysts specialize in evaluating, among other things, the credit quality, likelihood of default, and potential risks in securitizations. Asset-Backed Securities (ABS ratings) cover a broad range of asset types, including revolving consumer assets (credit cards); synthetic securities; operating assets; future flows; auto loans and leases; manufactured housing; and student loans.

The ABS Surveillance team is seeking a Director. The Director is expected to analyze a high volume of complex credits for a variety of asset classes within the consumer and commercial space. The candidate should have the ability to perform credit analysis, exception identification and resolution, read and interpret transaction documents, cash flow modeling, etc. The director will be instrumental in criteria development and ensure that current criteria, as well as all guidelines, policies and procedures are adhered to.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Analyze a high volume of complex credits for a variety of asset classes within the consumer and commercial space;
• Lead criteria development and ensure that current criteria, as well as all guidelines, policies and procedures are adhered to;
• Develop effective relationships with issuers, intermediaries and investors.
• Coordinate with analysts, managers, and staff at all levels of the organization to ensure smooth and efficient analytical work process/procedures.
• Represent Standard Poor's at meetings and seminars on analytical matters.
• Aid in identifying market trends, client development and criteria development needs;
• Aid in new product development;
• Direct and guide all team members (analytical and non-analytical) on analytical matters and help them resolve difficult day-to-day situations.

Skills

Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:

• Must have a strong understanding of financial markets and business environment including implications for SP's analytical products and services.
• MBA or CFA degree with 7-10 years experience in the financial services industry; alternately, significant direct experience in the required asset classes may replace educational requirements.
• The ability to monitor relevant market trends, is knowledgeable and well informed on issuer, asset, industry and market developments.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to work effectively in a team-oriented, global, and multi-cultural environment.
• Have the ability to undertake rigorous analytical work and be proficient at writing analytical reports.
• Ability to analyze a high volume of complex credits for a variety of asset classes within the consumer and commercial space;

• The ability and the desire to communicate to the markets by writing thought-leading commentaries, research pieces and press releases;
• The ability to collaborate with internal and external constituents.
