Job Description

Position requires significant deep and broad technical accounting expertise to advise and support multiple groups across the company. Position is also expected to keep abreast of emerging changes in accounting rules and attempt to influence the changes as appropriate, as well as educating the organization on pending changes and the potential impact on the business. Will require ability to make decisions which could significantly affect the financial results of the company.

Time in position is anticipated to be a minimum of three years.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

• Effectively integrate financial and business expertise, as well knowledge of business partners and their business, to influence and support implementation of value adding business solutions. Specifically, this includes execution of specific deal support and transaction consultation with Corporate Business Development (CBD) and Corporate Finance and Investment Banking (CFIB) groups, along with assigned regional geographic and business area support, to meet and exceed their expectations. This will require identification and resolution of complex accounting issues, as well as identification of alternatives to facilitate accomplishment of company objectives while complying with all accounting and reporting rules.

• Explain complex accounting issues and the business implications to business partners

• Participate as needed in discussions with external business partners and successfully influence them to assist the company in meeting its objectives

• Assist with effective implementation of all completed deals

• Assist with meeting all external reporting requirements as requested

• Monitor emerging changes in accounting rules that could have an impact on our business.

• Attempt to influence the rule-making process through the comment letter process and other means as appropriate

• Educate appropriate groups within the organization on a timely basis as to the pending accounting changes and pending deals and the potential impact on the business

• Provide accounting consultation across the organization in addition to CBD and CFIB and ensure compliance with GAAP accounting and reporting requirements

• Build networks in key places across the organization to understand the business and the related accounting ramifications

• Complete other projects as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• CPA required and must be maintained.

13 - 16 years of recent public accounting or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 10 years public

• Experience researching and resolving complex, technical accounting issues

• Experience with SEC reporting requirements

• Qualified candidate must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this position

Additional Skills/ Preferences:

• Experience with large, multi-national corporations

• Experience with merger and acquisition activity, including the related due diligence

• Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to lead and influence others

Other Information:

• Overtime will be required during peak project times

• Some travel required – generally less than 15%
