To accelerate success, Hotels.com is looking to hire a world class expert in leading Merchandising for the Americas. As Director of Americas Merchandising and Strategy for hotels.com, you will have an integral leadership role within merchandising for the largest regions for hotels.com. You will directly manage teams in the US and Latin America and will have responsibility for all of merchandising in the US, Canada and Latin America. The Director of Americas Merchandising and Strategy will be responsible for developing and implementing regional merchandising strategies that align with the goals of the overall business and drive significant growth. You will have direct and frequent contact with the leadership team across hotels.com. You will have an immediate impact and be given the ability to grow and advance in an exciting, fast paced online travel company.
 
Responsibilities:
Create and implement the short and long term merchandising strategy for the US, Canada and Latin America by liaising with key partners and PL owners in each region, building a merchandising vision that supports the overall regional and global strategy
Conceive of and drive innovation within merchandising through competitive benchmarking, primary and secondary research, data analyses and more
Bring customer and market perspective to the design and development of merchandising promotions and site wide merchandising concepts
Provide regular and ongoing upward feedback and presentations to executives within H.com and Expedia Inc on the progress of Americas merchandising
Work closely with lead of EMEA/APAC regional merchandising teams to align on key learning’s, testing, deal sourcing etc
Partner with value add and coupon team (within merchandising) to develop integrated regional value add and couponing strategy including key partners to work with, types of value-add offers to merchandising, couponing ideas etc
Engage with key strategic partners within h.com including regional Vice Presidents and key department leads such as Lodging, CRM, Product Management, Loyalty, Brand, Online and more to drive Americas merchandising roadmap and innovation that aligns with overall business goals
Achieve specific revenue and profitability growth targets in line with the strategy developed
Create a robust testing strategy that allows for optimization of all merchandising elements including promotion/sale themes, design and copy, customer segmentation, marketing channel optimization etc
Use all means of strategic assessment, creativity and ingenuity to identify ways to improve and innovate on merchandising for the Americas
Regularly meet with members of other EI merchandising teams (e.g. Hotwire, Expedia) to discuss best practices, key learning’s etc
Report on key performance indicators and drivers of change and use analyses to make key strategic merchandising decisions across the Americas while
Benchmark activity against competitors and retailer best of breed to ensure we remain ahead of our competitors
Lead, inspire and challenge their team to excellence by effectively communicating and delivering upon a clear and focused vision
Directly manage a team of four in Dallas and Brazil

Requirements
MBA preferred with a demonstrated amount of experience post MBA ideally with a top tier strategy consulting firm
Previous experience in managing and effectively influencing large matrixed teams in a hyper competitive industry with demonstrated experience delivering large projects
Proven record of business analysis driven and fact based decision making
Management consultant level written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated track record of creative and structured approach to problem solving
Experience in retail or merchandising function is a plus
Strong attention to detail, excellent organization skills, and ability to manage multiple projects /responsibilities
