Position Description:
Job Responsibilities:
• Reports to the Vice President, Supply Chain
• Leads and directs all aspects of Bulk Distribution and logistics for Air Liquide Industrial U.S. LP (ALIUS) - safety, quality, reliability, operating budgets, capital budgets, and the management and development of people.
• Responsible for developing distribution and logistics strategies to support the overall business strategy and implementing and monitoring short- and long-term plans to support the strategy.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with external customers and internal ALIUS customers and stake holders and with other stakeholders within AL affiliate companies.
Accountabilities:
Safety:
• Is the overall safety leader for bulk distribution and logistics and actively promotes and develops an ever-improving safety culture.
• Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (Lost Time, OSHA Recordable)
• Preventable and Non-preventable Vehicle accident frequency rate (VAFR)
• Accident Prevention Techniques and Near Misses
• Monthly Sequential Safety Meetings.
• Quality
• Implements and complies with AL Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Customer satisfaction:
• Provides on-time deliveries.
• Drives continuous improvement regarding customer service interruptions.
• Solves problems and works proactively to improve customer service.
Operations:
• Continuously improves operational efficiency, effectiveness and teamwork.
• Develops necessary operational performance metrics and tracks monthly performance against objectives.
• Helps ensure that the bulk distribution and logistics function has sufficient resources (people and equipment) to support current and projected customer demand.
• Develops and maintains asset replenishment strategies for all bulk distribution assets, including tractors, trailers, and railcars.
Financial:
• Develops annual operating and capital budgets.
• Tracks and reports monthly performance against budgets.
• Ensures controls are in place to comply with AL financial and operations control policies, e.g., delegation of authority.
Human Resources:
• Develops both technical and managerial skills of others.
• Establishes succession plans for key positions within distribution in conjunction with the Human Resources Business Partner.
• Helps Bulk Distribution and Logistics employees realize their career development potential.
General Requirements:
• Has general knowledge of DOT regulations, Current Good Manufacturing Practices
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Logistics, Business. MBA/Master's degree in related area or equivalent work experience desirable.
• 10 - 15 years experience work in industrial gas operations or in logistics/supply chain with demonstrated experience in managing, motivating and leading employees and teams.
• Experience managing private fleet operations desirable.
• Ability to travel 50% of the time.
