Terma A/S is a leading supplier of radar systems, electronic weapons management systems, aero-structures, and space systems world-wide.  Leveraging the outstanding Terma reputation and strong relationship with the US DoD, Homeland Security and large Prime Contractors, Terma A/S is currently executing an US Business Expansion Initiative (USBEI) through its US subsidiary Terma North America (TNA).

 

Terma North America (TNA), the US subsidiary of Denmark based Terma A/S, is searching for a Director, Business Development – Joint and Land Systems (JLS) for our Huntsville office. 

Position Description:

 

Establishment of Joint and Land Systems (JLS) Business Unit C4I products and services in US Department of Defense military service, war-fighting CINC organizations, and industry primes is a primary focus. Must be able to develop, capture and enable the Company to retain business in home and adjacent markets.  Intimately familiar with customer organizations, procurement processes, and budget cycles is a requirement.  Established relationship in customer and product domains is a plus.   

 

Success is measurable by awarded contracts and penetration of US Missile Defense Agency, US Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) command, and other organizations with Terma’s family of C4I products.  This position is located in Huntsville, Alabama. 

 

Duties include identification, qualification, and capture of “new-new” business and measurable growth in the existing business base.  Must be able to develop pursuit strategies and tactics, contact plans and proposals.  Strong written and oral communication skills are a prerequisite.  

 

Major Job Activities

·         Travel to customer locations throughout the U.S. to develop a broad customer base for the Business Unit, and related market segments, Develop solutions that consider potential impacts on client’s business position.

·         Partners and works closely with clients to further understand and anticipate their needs.

·         Develop working Account Plans, Capture Plans, and competitive proposals.

·         Expand industry awareness of Terma Command Control capabilities through participation in industry days and association affiliations. Direct contacts with customers of client organizations, etc.

·         Develop a strong understanding of each target client's business operations and goals to perform new business development activities with existing and new customers.

·         Work with Terma team in Denmark and major U.S. partner organizations to develop new opportunities with customers.

·         Establish professional relationships with leaders in the government and within industry to become known as a professional resource to the industry.

·         Identify and Qualify customer and end customer solutions.

·         Participate in selected Government/Industry Associations and Government briefings to Industry, and Industry briefings to Government.

·         Must travel extensively (50% or more)
 

Minimum Qualifications Experience Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s of Science Degree in a technical field (Engineering, Computer Science, etc), desired. 

Experience:

10 years of industry or military experience in operations research, analysis, with C4I Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems; 3-5 years experience in Project Management and/or 5 to 10 years Business Development experience in DOD markets; experience in briefing technical material to executive or senior leaders.  Strong oral and written communication skills are required.

 

Must be experienced in developing and implementing strategic and operational plans and be familiar with government relations including congressional state/local advocacy; leadership of marketing; and management is desired; good understanding of government procurement process, DoD contracts, regulations and procedures, and DoD operations and sustainment services.

 

Candidate should have a good understanding of technical, cost and risk implications of solutions for C4I IAMD, and ability to incorporate these into capture strategies; possession of good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; able to work with minimal direction, but promotes an open flow of information so that all concerned are well informed.
