JOB DESCRIPTION AND
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE 

POSITION TITLE: Director Business Development
DIVISION: Corporate
STATUS:  Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director Business Development is responsible for generating new sales based on assigned regions assigned specialties and target markets.  This position is also responsible for maintaining ongoing contact with current clients and leads and/or participates in the re-sale process.  This position has no authority to contract for or on behalf of Valley or as a representative of Valley and will not in any manner bind or attempt to bind Valley to any agreement with any third party.
                             

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
The position functions and duties described below may not be the only requirements of the position.  It may be necessary to follow other instructions or perform other related duties required by Valley Services Inc.

- Develops and achieves annual sales quota
- Makes sales presentations and develops potential client relationships within assigned regions specialties and target markets including proposal development
- Provides and assists with reports and data upon request
- Participates in planning meetings for strategic plan development to accomplish long and short-term company goals
- Serves as a liaison between the corporate office clients and potential clients while pursuing continuous improvement of company operations

- Must have a strong knowledge in expense management financial planning and strategic planning

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORTS
Physical:
Physical demand level is light with 20 pounds being demanded occasionally. Intermittent sitting and standing with wide freedom of movement.  Occasional lifting bending stooping pushing and pulling.  Availability to travel extensively by vehicle and/or air including overnight stays is required. Travel status may be for long periods of time.

Mental:
Works with minimal supervision.  Concentrates for long periods of time.  Attends to detail.  Requires independent action and decision-making.  Uses discretion and maintains confidentiality when providing information about employees clients vendors and other company business.  Must be able to meet various deadlines.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment is an office building with a security system.  Extensive travel via automobile and airplane.   Travel may be for long periods of time.  Interacts with employees on a daily basis as well as existing and potential clients.  Subject to flexible hours as needed.  May be required to visit units where food is prepared and served and visit clients if located at facilities other than the unit.  May work out of a home office if appropriate. 

POSITION RELATIONSHIPS
The Director Business Development reports directly to the Executive Vice President of Business Development and has no supervisory responsibilities.
