Essential Functions
The Director, Business Development is responsible for driving strategic and tactical efforts in the development, promotion and retention of revenue opportunities with key clients in the Pharma and CRO industries with a specific focus on early Phase relationships within the biotech industry. The Director, Business Development will create a thorough understanding of full service capabilities (Clinical Conduct, CRO, Clinical Data Services, Statistical Management) and market these services to potential clients.
Specific Responsibilities Include
· Achieve targeted company revenue and sales goals by procuring new-signed contracts for Phase I/early phase research center(s).
· Facilitates BD visits to targeted accounts and creates and leads all sponsor presentations.
· Support all Early Phase Business Development/Client Services functions, including generation of budgets/proposals, contract support, appropriate marketing materials.
· Maintains appropriate, consistent product visibility and manages client relationships on all assigned accounts.
· Work closely with Senior Management to assist in the development and preparation of quarterly reports to track and evaluate Phase I sales performance, as well as progress to annual revenue goals.
· Assist Senior Management team in development of annual strategic plan, sales budget, marketing plan, and business plan for Comprehensive Phase One® business unit.
· Identifies and addresses marketing and sales skill gaps and ensures that tools to support marketing, sales and relationship management are well understood and effectively used.
· Work with business development team as well as business units to ensure we maximize cross selling and leveraging of our service offerings.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in the Sciences, Healthcare or Business required. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
- 4-5 years of related sales and marketing experience in the Pharmaceutical, or CRO industries.
- Experience in (Phase I, Clinical Pharmacology) required.
- Clinical or research background in addition to sales experience preferred.
- Must have proven experience in meeting company revenue and sales targets.

- Demonstrated ability to consistently make sound business decisions.

- Must have excellent oral/written communication skills and polished presentation skills
- Ability to travel when needed (approximately 40%-50%).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel.
