Director, Company Planning Merchandise Finance

GENERAL SUMMARY: Walmart.com is seeking a Director of Company Planning and Merchandise Finance. Main responsibilities include guiding key Walmart.com revenue and margin planning, forecasting and reporting processes and partnering extensively with the Merchandising and Merchandise Planning teams to understand business risks and opportunities and to ensure the achievement of financial goals. This Director will be responsible for building out and establishing Walmart.com’s core Company Planning tools and processes. This Director will initially lead a team of three Finance associates. Candidates will be expected to apply traditional finance and planning skills to develop a high-level perspective of Walmart.com’s financial performance. Candidates should possess the interpersonal skills necessary to function effectively as an ambassador and service provider while maintaining fiduciary responsibilities.

This position supports senior management of the division and must be able to work with all levels within the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:

Forecasting - 25%
1. Leads a team responsible for developing revenue and margin forecasts that incorporate current business trends and business strategies. Clearly summarizes forecast highlights, business drivers, risks and opportunities to key stakeholders. Provides forecast guidance to Merchandise Planning team to ensure that revenue and margin forecasts support the attainment of Walmart.com financial targets.

2. Manages monthly overhead expense forecasting processes payroll and general administrative expenses for the Merchandising and Merchandise Planning teams.
Analysis - 25%
3. Analyzes and articulates the levers of profitability” of the business to provide a deeper understanding of key business drivers and provide analyses and recommendations to help drive toward company revenue and profit goals.

4. Creates ad hoc analyses that provide additional insight into business trends and performance to help inform current strategies and future forecasts and plans.

5. Serves as project manager for ad hoc projects by managing objectives, deliverables, and key milestones; influencing others to reach consensus; and ensuring projects deliver substantive results (for example, return-on-investment (ROI) impact, market-based impacts, demonstrable cash flow).

Planning Budgeting - 20%
6. Develops annual revenue and margin targets that incorporate business strategies and industry trends. Partners extensively with the Merchandising and Merchandise Planning teams to ensure that annual Merchandise plans support walmart.com revenue and profit goals.

7. Partners with Merchandise Planning and Merchandising leadership to develop annual overhead expense plans for payroll and general administrative expenses.

Reporting - 15%
8. Manages key monthly corporate reporting deliverables by collaborating with Accounting and FPA teams to provide accurate business summaries and highlights to clearly communicate business drivers to key stakeholders from Home Office, Global e-commerce and the Walmart.com executive committee.

9. Leads a team in producing monthly operating profit reports by department to elevate visibility to how different product areas contribute to the company’s revenue and profit goals and to identify opportunities to improve performance. Identifies process improvement opportunities and leads the implementation of new processes and/or process enhancements to continually increase the level of product operating profit visibility provided.

10. Collaborates with Accounting team to ensure accurate month-end close process and clear understanding of variance drivers for Merchandise-related PL lines.

Leadership - 15%
11. Manages the growth and development of direct reports by providing supervision and development opportunities; training, developing and mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.

12. Promotes and supports Company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supports the Open Door Policy.

2) Experience:
• 8+ years of related experience in corporate finance, investment banking, consulting or related field
• Retail and e-commerce experience a plus
