Director, Consumer Affairs -Commercial Behavioral Health- Telecommuter Job in Greenville, South Carolina US
The primary goal of the Director, Consumer Affairs - Commercial Behavioral Health, will be to create, direct, implement, and evaluate programs and services that advance the recovery focused, strength based and person centered orientation of OptumHealth Behavioral Solutions, Commercial teams. This will include the following:
-Develop new programs that support recovery for children, families, and individuals living with substance use and/or mental health conditions.
-Support internal recovery orientation through training, resource and program development for and with Care Advocacy Centers, as well as large commercial accounts staff and staff serving the insurance community.
- Create new short and long term programs and services specific to children, families and individuals living with substance use disorder and mental health issues that engage and empower consumers and position OHBS competitively within the market place.
- Support the implementation of recovery, resiliency and consumer centered programs within new books of business.
- Offer technical assistance to consumer and family organizations including strategic planning, support group development, training, focus groups and other programs and project that help support strong community based services.
- Develop and implement the sustainability institute to teach consumer and family organizations how to work with managed care companies.
- Create external partnerships with stakeholder organizations to build our brand.
- Partner for development and implementation of internal training programs to enhance the team's understanding of consumer centric recovery and resiliency based care.
- Offer technical review of consumer engagement OptumHealth behavioral solutions consumer facing tools and educational/motivational materials to support the infusion of recovery resilience and engagement
- Offer technical support to Innovations team members around engagement and consumer and family needs and perspectives.
- Coordinate with Media and Public Relations teams to promote OptumHealth innovations, partnerships and consumer centric products and tools.
- Create programs and initiatives that integrate health and mental health, aggressively pursue whole health directed to consumers, advance the use of peer coaches, evaluate and track outcomes and expand opportunities for co morbid specific programs like diabetes and mental illnesses.
- Work with network teams to support inclusion of community based providers such as consumer and family run organizations into our networks.
- Work with care solutions and IT staff to support the creation of listings of community based services to ensure care advocates have resources to offer consumers that engage and empower.
- Represent the company with customers, external stakeholders and potential customers in meetings, presentations and exhibits.
- Work with the growth teams to support the creation of recovery focused, competitive proposals that reflect proven innovations in consumer centric, strengths based recovery, and resiliency.
- Speak at local and national conferences and publish articles in national mental health publications that showcase innovations and position us for future growth.
- Travel approximately 40%.

Proven experience in developing creative, innovative solution-based programs and initiatives.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience nationally training and public speaking on the topics of system change and recovery
Experience with consumers of mental health services
Ability to travel approximately 40% required
5 years in senior leadership role with ability to build consensus, a sense of shared purpose and commitment in others
5 years experience in non-profit sector doing advocacy around consumer engagement, substance use disorder,i.e. programs that empower consumers of behavioral health services required
Personal experience as a consumer of behavioral health services in recovery is mandatory for the position
Proven experience implementing and communicating recovery based and person centered approaches
5 years experience implementing programs that engage consumers required
5 years experience creating and developing consumer programs is required - to include all aspects: program development, design, financial justification, negotiation, implementation, evaluation
Experience coaching and guiding others, provide education on person centered thinking
Demonstrated ability to make quality decisions in a timely manner
Proficient with Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Outlook
