Position Requirements:
Fitch Ratings currently seeks a Director, Corporate Communications to assume responsibility for all day-to-day contact and media coverage for the Latin America, Global Infrastructure, and US Public Finance rating groups. The position is based in New York and reports to the global head of corporate communications.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure the appropriate level of exposure for the relevant group's analytical output with key public constituencies, placing Fitch opinion and analysis with capital markets, regional and national reporters
• Develop core messages for high-profile announcements and press interviews in addition to annual media relations strategic planning
• Manage forward research with analytical teams to develop media strategies and enhance visibility in press
• Increase Fitch's visibility in the emerging markets, working with colleagues in Asia Pacific and Europe to optimize opportunities on a global basis
• Regular interaction with internal analytical team members and the press
• Respond to media queries and proactively engage with the media as appropriate
• Draft news releases and ensure broad, timely and relevant distribution of news about rating decisions and industry commentary.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years hands-on experience in dealing directly with the media
• Background in the financial services business - either in an agency or corporate capacity
• Solid writing and editing capabilities
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
• Ability to create clear and straightforward press releases and related content out of complex financial documents
• Ability to manage daily communication throughout various regions in order to reach all targeted audiences
• Familiarity with current and emerging social media trends
• Fluency in Spanish and Portuguese language is a plus.
• Background in fixed income securities, banking or insurance a significant plus
