Description: Located in Stamford, CT, this position reports to the head of Trading and will work closely with other asset Sector Traders, Credit Research Team, Portfolio Management and Risk Management Teams. The position is for a Corporate Trader/Asset Manager. Candidate is expected to be a self starter who has passion for Fixed Income markets, is an independent thinker, and strong minded with focus on Credit. Knowledge of another Fixed Income Asset class is a plus, as trader may be expected to follow and support other asset classes. This position has high visibility and the candidate is expected to monitor markets, follow macro trends, set portfolio strategy and generate trade ideas, and should be very vocal in her/his recommendations. Candidate should have a strong presence and be able to articulate and present views in front of other investment professionals. Candidate should be able to work under pressure and in a close knit team based environment, but will also be expected to help in group reporting and administrative tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop knowledge of Genworth's portfolios, parameters, and existing holdings, and use that knowledge to make decisions and recommendations to best fit needs
•Follow market movements and specific asset class events, the economy, the broader markets and regulatory environment to develop and maintain opinions on relative value, views on credit trends, and market outlook.
• Collaborate with other traders and research staff in developing and implementing a tactical strategy for existing holdings, as well as new investments. Collaborate with Portfolio Management on Longer Term Strategy.
• Develop Relative Value view across all asset classes with other Asset Managers.
• Source new issue and secondary bonds for investment as well as execute on trades.
• Build models/spreadsheets to monitor various markets. Maintain complete transaction records and other data.
• Utilize graphs and market information to support views and share results with broader group.
• Report on and discuss markets, trends and developments and their impact on our portfolio in morning meetings, relative value discussions and in asset class reviews.
• Assist traders in other asset classes as needed, and develop ability to back up for other traders and handle other products.
• Work with trading/research teams on department presentations and asset class reviews and discussions within Investments' group.
• Use existing relationships and build on already established relations with Wall Street.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, or related area(s)of study
• 10 to 12 years work experience in Investment Department for an Insurance Company or other major Investment Institution in targeted asset classes
• Working knowledge of Fixed Income products, their structures, drivers, and regulatory environment.
• Experience working with analytical tools such as Bloomberg, BlackRock Solutions, etc.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong Excel and Powerpoint skills.
• Ability to influence decision making
• Ability to quickly assess information and apply
• Experience working with large teams in a matrix organization
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• MBA or CFA
