The Client
Our client is a global financial institution with a strong presence in Singapore. They are recognised for offering first class products services for individuals and corporate alike. Due to aggressive growth strategy, our client is looking to hire experienced professionals to join their ranks.
The Position
• Complex credit analysis and approval as well as interfacing with senior management, traders, and sales teams.
• Oversee initial/annual credit review for commodity clients including the establishment of credit limits and credit terms.
• Interface with clients, bankers, and business leaders for transaction structuring and trading document negotiation.
• Engage with local and global management and traders to ensure a mutual understanding of trading strategies, major positions, and market risk exposure across the Commodity trading desks with particular emphasis on the global oil trading business and other activities conducted in the Asia Pacific region.
• Work with support partners on processes, data integrity and other aspects of the Global Commodities business to ensure risk can be measured and controlled properly, by ensuring transactions and exposure are reflected correctly in transaction processing and risk systems.
• Proactive identification of deterioration of client’s risk profile and initiate remedial management as necessary to protect the Bank’s interest.
• Development of credit risk tools required to operate a commodity business.
• Oversee monitoring of limits against exposure and work with business leaders, bankers, and credit risk officers to resolve excesses and create additional capacity.
The Candidate
• Knowledge of instruments traded in commodity markets including swaps, options, forward physical, and other complex instruments.
• Understanding of commodity contract which include ISDA/CSA, forward physical contract, and Cross-Product Master Netting Agreements among other credit document typical for commodities.
• Experience creating complex models that forecast financial results for a counterparty.
• Experience managing a credit portfolio during difficult situations.
• Conducted on site due diligence with salespeople or relationship managers.
• Experience resolving internal and external disputes regarding contract terms and credit allocation.
Demonstrable skills required
• Strong technical credit skills.
• Familiarity/experience working in a trading environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel or other word processing and spreadsheet packages.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work under pressure with time constraints.
• Experience and contacts within the region to assist with meeting job requirements.
• Ability to work in a team and manage staff.
• Have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics preferred.
• 10+ years of credit risk or relevant experience.
• An MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred and formal Credit Training is a plus.
