What is the key purpose of this role?
- The end to end test manager is accountable to the Programme/Project Manager for the effective and efficient design, planning, preparation, execution and control of all test phases within a Programme/Project. Test Phases will include: Component Integration Testing (CIT), System Test (ST), Systems Integration Testing (SIT), Non-Functional Testing (NFT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT). Additional test phases may come into scope.
- The role will be the primary testing contact for all stakeholders inside and outside of the Programme/Project
- The role will have responsibility for defining the Test Stratgy, and ensuring that all subsequent test approaches fit within the framework set out in the Test Strategy
- The role will bring testing thought leadership to the BarCorp testing group, including the development of testing techniques and approaches, and will play an important role in shaping, building and maturing the test enabling functions, including Test Design and SME/Domain capability, Automation, Data, and Test Environment Management
- The role holder will drive all testing workstreams, particularly execution, dropping into detail as required, changing focus/direction as necessitated by Programme factors and/or external factors
- The role will have accountability and responsibility for building the management layer of the Programme/Project and will ensure that all the testing disciplines are suitably resourced with the right numbers, skills and attitude
- The role will require experience of working with, and management of SI Partners, including contract negotiations, leveraging 'value add'
- The role will be accountable for the financial planning and tracking of the testing undertaken on Programme/Projects
- The role will have ownership of Programme/Project level testing RAIDs
- The role will have ownership and management of the end to end testing plan
- The role will have ownership and management of the end to end metrics and test reporting
What are the key accountabilities of this role?
Definition of Programme/Project test strategy (10%)
- Responsibility for ensuring all testing workstreams work within the testing framework set out in the strategy
Direction of the test phases/workstreams through the testing SDLC (50%)
- Test Planning, Mobilisation, Preparation, Execution, Closure
- Direct the management of all project test artefacts/deliverables, including: Plans, Test Schedules, RAIDS, Artefacts/outputs
- Review/sign off the key project testing artefacts (Test Approaches, Closure Memo's)
Testing Programme/Project Control (30%)
- Financial - definition of testing cost projections (cost model) and tracking thereof
- SDLC/Governance - ensure testing compliance to Barclays defined governance processes
- Reporting and metrics - ensure stakeholder requirements are included in the standard test reporting metrics, ensure metrics are accurate, timely and correctly targetted at their respective audiences
Maturing and leverage of testing shared services (10%)
- Positive contribution to the wider BarCorp testing shared services/enablers
Skills
What do you need to be successful in this role?
Essential
- Experience of the financial sector, specifically Global Payments
- Extensive experience of testing large scale, complex integration Programmes/Projects
- Experience of managing large teams, often made up of complex supply chains in multiple international locations
Preferred
- Experience of the Fundtech Payments processing application (Global Payments Plus)
- Certification: ISEB / ISTQB / Prince 2 / ITIL (practitioner level)
- Awareness of banking applications and awareness of the corporate banking domain
