PURPOSE:
- Reporting to the GM of Morgan Hill the Director of Engineering Quality will be responsible for establishing the technology and process control road-map for the site, driving manufacturing process excellence, process control, allocating resources of manpower and equipment, development of the engineering staff, standardization of systems and software used, and maintaining Morgan Hill’s manufacturing capabilities at world class levels and practices.
- This position will oversee all technical personal, NC programmers, manufacturing and process engineers, quality and inspection at the site.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES:
- Responsible for developing, maintaining and continually improving all shop manufacturing processes, methods, instructions and best practices across the shop
- Manage the short term and long term activities within the staff as far as planning, budgeting and performance to goals
- Responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes that ensure the most effective use of materials, equipment and resources.
- Drive standardization, simplification implementation of manufacturing process and systems such as CAM software, programming practices, cutting edge durable and consumable tooling practices
- Establish employee development plans such as NC programming training, forming, stamping, cutting tooling technology, continuous improvement, process control and related seminars and training.
- Support supply chain with technical expertise as needed
- Establish and share best practice tool kits worldwide
- Coordinate best practices throughout the site and participate in our Technology CI groups
- Engage, manage, fully support and implement assigned responsibilities in the sites formal lean operating program
- Assist business development with key customer projects regarding technical presentations, contract reviews, design and Producibility reviews.
- Market Flextronics’s global engineering capabilities to current and potential customers as far as capabilities, services, practices and competencies
- Drive Flextronics’s engineering capabilities to meet or exceed customers requirements
- Assist supporting functional organizations with data gathering and analysis.
- Interact with internal and external customers, suppliers and any outside regulatory or professional agencies as required
- Prepare technical strategies for short term and long tern business planning supporting goals and objectives
- Responsible for developing and implementing true process control across the value stream, which would include testing, validation, process studies, process control, process inspections both internally and externally with the supply chain
- Coordinate document control processes with quality
- Develop and maintain supplier quality scorecards, approved supplier list
- Identify and pareto and prioritize key turnbacks and implement corrective actions
- Implement true corrective actions for all occurrences of scrap
- Work to move programming and tooling design off site to low cost regions
- Keep sites current as to latest technology in fixturing and tooling concepts
- Establish and maintain standard and transferable quick change tooling
- Assure that quotes are precise and accurate using the latest and most cost effective approaches
- Selection of equipment for the site
- Establish a standard format for shop floor work instructions and implement them across the site
- Establish a maintain a universal system for NC part program approval 1st article and revision control
- Establish site audits to check best practices are followed for tooling, fixturing and part programs, etc.
- Establish process and material handing standard practices
- Perform utilization/capacity studies, allocations of equipment across sites, evaluating of capital equipment requirements, evaluation and selection of equipment, payback analysis, capital requests and implementation

REQUIRED (MUST-HAVE) QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Engineering at a minimum, Masters in Engineering and or MBA preferred
- BS in Engineering is a must. MS preferred. Familiar with CAD systems

DESIRED (NICE-TO-HAVE) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ten years of complex multi axis machining experience, including technical management.
- Demonstrated expertise in cutting edge machining techniques and implementation.
- Exceptionally strong experience in metal fabrication and machining.
