Position Overview:
The Director, Enterprise Communications will report to the Vice President, Human Resources and function as part of the Enterprise-level management team. The main responsibility of the position is to ensure effective, efficient and consistent internal and external communications across the world-wide Hubbell Enterprise. Will ensure communications align with Corporate Vision, Change Management initiatives and Strategic direction. Will develop and oversee an enterprise-wide intranet environment to deliver high quality, up-to-date, accurate and useful company information, while providing forums for information exchange. Will foster an environment that supports and encourages effective collaboration and knowledge sharing within and across Platforms, Business Units, functions, and brands.
Responsibilities:
Internal/ External Communications:
Create, in conjunction with key leadership, a worldwide communications strategy for the Enterprise that aligns with the vision of the company and supports effective execution of key corporate initiatives.
Support a Corporate culture shift toward richer enterprise collaboration by leading and motivating cross functional intranet teams, setting intranet guidelines and standards, disseminating best practices, recommending and fostering functional forums and knowledge transfer, obtaining and acting on team participant feedback, approving new on-line communities, setting appropriate access restrictions, facilitating reporting and promoting participation and engagement.
Develop and provide overall governance of effective internal and external communication media with an eye toward consistency of messaging, clarity, effectiveness and timeliness.
Oversee the messaging strategy of specific Communications, including: the Enterprise intranet environment, quarterly Newsletters, Corporate Annual Report, Corporate Policies and Annual Benefits communications.
Create ad-hoc internal and external communications in support of ongoing change management, company announcements, press releases, etc.
Continuously benchmark other organizations for communications best practices and leading edge technology advancements.
Intranet Communications/Project Management:
Serve as the Intranet Content Management and Collaboration Systems owner, administrator and functional expert
Devise plans and roll-out strategies for new enhancements and major communications initiatives.
Coordinate resources for new web content development/updating and align publication priorities with management needs and corporate initiatives.
Monitor site performance and usage statistics, perform site audits, analyze the data in order to recommend and implement continuous improvement updates.
Serve in an advisory role for Intranet-based internal communications projects and business tools.
Stay abreast of best practices in intranet management.
Leverage intranet communications best practices to improve awareness and quality of user experience.
Create and post web content, integrate front-end content and design with back-end technology capabilities.
Provide editorial leadership for intranet content, oversee daily content and coordinate content resources across the Enterprise.
Ensure adherence to technical and design guidelines and monitor the intranet for consistency, functionality and standards.
Work proactively with content managers to promote consistent practice for information management and messaging.
Review and analyze feedback and concerns from intranet stakeholders and users throughout the organization; analyze site metrics on an ongoing basis, taking action where appropriate to drive usage and enhance content.
Identify opportunities for process improvement through improved communications, access to information and knowledge sharing.
Work Experience and Education Required:
A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications or a related field of study, is required. A Master's level degree or MBA is a plus.
A minimum of 7(+) years of professional experience in Corporate Communications with an emphasis in internal audiences or 7(+) years of combined experience inclusive of Intranet Management and internal communications is needed.
Demonstrated experience implementing effective internal communications to include intranet-based communication, collaboration, content management and information sharing is also needed.
Demonstrated experience in developing, managing and editing internal communications content is required.
Working knowledge of current web based technology, architecture and tools is needed.
Experience fostering collaborative work tools, forums and teams within an Enterprise setting is needed.
Basic systems roll-out, maintenance and project management experience is desired.
Must possess the analytical skills and ability to track and analyze web metrics.
Must be self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks .
