Director, Epidemiology Center Job in Durham, North Carolina Us
Social Scientific Systems, Inc. (SSS), is looking for a PhD-level senior research scientist in epidemiology or a closely related public health discipline, with a minimum of 10 years experience in securing and managing large-scale research projects, preferably for Federal clients. This individual will have a key role in maintaining our core business with the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and growing the epidemiology business area with SSS' Public Health Research Group (PHR). This includes expanding our Federal client base to CDC, areas within NIH other than NIEHS, and other Federal agencies. This position is located in SSS' office in Durham, North Carolina.
Responsibilities:
- Provide senior oversight and technical support to our epidemiologic projects within PHR (project managers will be direct reports)
- Provide epidemiologic, public health, statistical, and methodological research expertise in planning, designing, and conducting public health research
- Prepare scientific manuscripts and present analytic results to clients and at conferences as opportunities arise
- Create new business opportunities through use of established networks and contacts- previous experience with projects sponsored by CDC and NIH is extremely desirable in this regard
- Lead strategic planning of the epidemiology market area and lead opportunity capture and proposal efforts in this area
- Be a direct liaison with potential new clients and business partners
- Interact with research personnel in allied groups at SSS in the pursuit of public health contract opportunities
Required Skills
Proven leadership and strong management skills, a good understanding of health research design, and substantial project management experience for complex health research projects.
Required Experience
PhD in epidemiology or related public health discipline, plus 10 or more years of related experience in managing projects or major tasks and a high level of proficiency in a technical area related to various epidemiologic projects. Extensive experience in developing winning proposal strategies and a strong track record of winning Federal contracts.Evidence of strong relationships with investigators in public health research fields. Experience designing and conducting public health research projects and managing staff involved in this research. Expertise with projects sponsored by CDC and NIH is highly desirable. Some travel, primarily domestic, is required.
