Responsibilities: The Director will work closely with the James Clark Coffman Chair of Entrepreneurial Studies to further develop the infrastructure of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship including policy development, funding, partnerships, legislative support and strategic alliances with the entrepreneurial community. This individual will be responsible for creating and fostering a climate that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship as key elements of the College of Business Economics, West Virginia University, and the state s economic development process. This involves maintaining supportive relationships with grant agencies, developing and managing collaborations with other colleges, schools and units within and outside WVU, creating a venue for notable entrepreneurs, industry analysts, venture capitalists, researchers, and faculty to present their candid insights and opinions on entrepreneurial topics; and functioning as a facilitator for technology transfer and research commercialization, incubators, research parks and related initiatives both within West Virginia University and with appropriate external organizations. Responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester, overseeing the undergraduate minor in entrepreneurship, creating an Innovation Entrepreneurship Center Advisory Board, engaging in program evaluation and continuous improvement with key stakeholders, serving as an advisor for student internships, managing the statewide student business plan competition, and creating and offering additional programs to promote and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in West Virginia. Qualifications/Experience:The successful candidate will possess a Masters degree in business or related field or qualifications gained through 5+ years of experience as a successful business leader and entrepreneur. The appointee must be qualified to teach in the Entrepreneurship Minor Program either as academically or professionally qualified as determined by AACSB International criteria. The candidate must also demonstrate: excellent communication and presentation skills including ability to write compelling proposals for extramural funding; ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff and students across the University as well as with external clients; ability to travel extensively to meet with clients, service providers, underwriters and appropriate constituencies, often necessitating overnight travel; strong computer skills including spreadsheet, database, presentation, internet, word processing, e-mail, and related areas; and ability to manage staff in the Entrepreneurship program and resources effectively to meet program objectives and mission within the context of the College of Business and Economics strategic plan.
